We bid a fond farewell to Luke Pepper, who worked at PCG this summer as a Beatitudes fellow. He was a resourceful and hardworking member of our team, and we appreciate not only his contributions but also the spirit with which he did his work. He moved us forward in the development of our new advocacy network, created a toolkit for advocates, and facilitated several in-district meetings with legislators in mid-state communities. His good humor and strong biblical knowledge served us well.
Luke now returns for his third year at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and a new job as the Minister of Youth at the Libertyville United Methodist Church. As one of his professional goals, Luke is pursuing ordination as a deacon in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. We wish him well in all his future endeavors.
The Beatitudes Society develops and sustains emerging Christian leaders as they build a progressive network for justice, compassion and peace. Its Summer Fellowship program sponsors seminary students to work as interns at change organizations in Chicago, Washington, DC, Atlanta, and the San Francisco Bay area.
