Protestants for the Common Good takes the position that it is best to think before advocating and acting, especially when relating faith to political and public life. We encourage individuals to ask:

  • how faith should relate to politics generally;

  • how their religious beliefs relate to particular policy issues, knowing what their religious traditions teach about these issues and the dimensions of the public policies being addressed.

In order to meet its commitment to provide faithful citizens the educational opportunities that will inform their advocacy and action, Protestants for the Common Good offers an array of educational programs:

Courses on Faith and Critical Issues, a listing of courses (single and multi-session) that PCG staff is prepared to lead in congregations and organizations. Click here for more information.

Programs on Special Topics, led by members of the PCG staff. Call for information.

Faith and the Metropolitan Challenge Curriculum, a six-session series introducing the broad issues that are central to relating faith to politics and public life.

See the Current Calendar for forthcoming educational events, to which the public is invited.

Questions about these educational resources and how to schedule them should be directed to The Rev. Jennifer Kottler, Director of Education and Outreach at 312-223-9544, ext. 223.

"In that obedience which we have shown to be due the authority of rulers obedience is never to lead us away from obedience to God."
- John Calvin
